Fall 2026 Boating Safety Circular now available

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced its Fall 2026 Boating Safety Circular, featuring information for recreational boat manufacturers and the wider boating community. Highlights include boat capacity labeling, product recalls, factory inspections and safety compliance topics.

For Boaters

Product Recalls & Safety

Review official recall information and check whether your boat or equipment is affected. The email announcement lists recalls among the circular's topics; it does not specify an individual recalled product.

Recent recall records: The Coast Guard database lists an August 21, 2026 record for Montara 2.0 23 and a July 10, 2026 record for Sea-Doo Switch. Owners should search the database by manufacturer, model and year to confirm applicability and read the details before taking action.

Capacity Labels & Inspections

The circular highlights Boat Capacity Labels—A New Approach and Factory Inspections 2.0. These are topics in the publication, not confirmed new legal requirements in this summary.

Capacity labels: The USCG explains how intended accessories and permanent add-ons can affect a boat’s capacity and flotation calculations. Boatbuilders should account for planned modifications and coordinate with dealers.

Factory compliance inspections: The Coast Guard’s Product Assurance Branch inspects and tests recreational boats, investigates reported defects and interprets federal safety standards.
